How to apply



Old Palace of John Whitgift School is an academically selective school which provides for students of above average academic ability. All entrants should be able to benefit from the academic education provided.

general points of entry to the Old Palace are Nursery, Reception, Year 6, Year 7 and Year 12.

Application Forms are available from the start of September in the year before entry.

Key dates

Selection for admissions to fill any residual places is by assessment as and when vacancies become available. Selection for residual places will be on merit with the highest ranked being admitted.

Exceptionally candidates may be considered for places in an academic year other than that of their chronological age. This will only be considered if there is written professional evidence that this will be in the best interest of the student or where there have been exceptional circumstance where a student is applying for Year 10 and above.

No student will be admitted into the school until all formalities have been completed and all required documentation has been provided.

There is no automatic transfer to the next academic year group for children in Pre-School and students in Years 6 and 11 at Old Palace Seniors. All students are assessed for entry at these transfer points.

Terms of entry

Security Payments
A candidate who has been successful in their application and has been offered a place at the School must respond, in writing, by the specified date and include a cheque for £250 to secure the place. During the first term, this will be refunded through the School fee system. Should a candidate secure a place and then not join the School the £250 will not be refunded.

Deposits
Students admitted to Year 1 or above are required to provide a deposit of £500. £500 will be returned to parents when the student leaves the School subject to all books and equipment being returned in good condition and all school fees having been paid in full.
