Results

Old Palace of John Whitgift School is celebrating another year of outstanding examination results. Staff are delighted to see the students have been rewarded for their hard work and consistent application.

A-Level
At A-Level Sophie Ip, Katherine Lumley and Bhumika Patel all achieved a stunning 4 A* grades. A further 9 girls attained 4 A/A* grades and another 12 girls gained 3 A/A* grades. This is a remarkable achievement and the vast majority of students succeeded in securing their first choice of university – including many of the top institutions including Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Manchester, LSE and Warwick.

- Approximately half of the cohort studied Mathematics and of those 72% achieved A*/A grade
- 65% of Chemistry students achieved A*/A grades
- 69% of Economics students gained A*/A grades
- 67% of English Literature students achieved A*/A grades
- 88% of RS candidates achieved A*/A grades

60% of grades achieved were A/A* and an impressive 93% of grades attained were A*-C. Carol Jewell, Head of Old Palace commented, “Congratulations to all our girls for reaching the high standards expected of Old Palace students who have worked extremely hard to achieve these outstanding results. They are a credit to the School and we wish them every success as they start the next step of their educational journey.


AS-Level
Old Palace also announced impressive AS results with a third of the girls achieving a minimum of 3 A grades. Jennifer Carnegie achieved an A grade in each of her 5 subjects - Mathematics, Geography, Spanish, ICT and Physics. She was matched by Niva Shah who achieved A grade in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Economics and A-Level Gujarati. A further 10 students were rewarded for their hard work with 4 A grades.

- Over 60% of the cohort studied AS Mathematics and of these 66% achieved A/B grade
- 94% of English Literature students achieved A/B grade at AS Level
- 67% of Physics students achieved A grade at AS Level

Carol Jewell continued, “Our Year 12 is continuing the academic track record for Old Palace with an outstanding set of AS results. Hard work and dedication is at the heart of the School and we are delighted that so many of our students are determined to succeed and follow our Year 13 girls into the top universities in the country”.

GCSE:
A staggering 42 students achieved 10 A*/A grades or above. Of those, Nancy Carney-Holland, Zarah Hussain and Devika Jethwa excelled with a perfect 11 A* grades and four other girls Sayyada Asharia, Bethany Broomfield, Rachel Chatterjee and Kirstin Nazareth recorded 10 A* grades.

Just over a third of all grades were A* and 73% were A*/A grades. Head of Old Palace, Carol Jewell commented, “This has been a remarkable week for our girls. Our A-Level and AS results were outstanding and now our Year 11 students have matched them with another set of exceptional results. I am delighted for all the students, as well as our most distinguished staff who inspire all to achieve so much more than was ever thought possible.”
