Our Sporting Ethos: Seniors

Sport plays a key role in the life of pupils at Old Palace; both as an integral part of the curriculum and in the sheer number of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities.

The Senior School boasts its own swimming pool and the girls, whether at Prep or Seniors, all have weekly swimming lessons. Our playing fields at the Old Whitgiftian Association provide excellent facilities for athletics and we have regular use of Trinity School’s wonderful all-weather pitches.

We take our sport seriously and are proud of our success whether it’s at team or individual level. To play for our Senior netball teams is something our girls aspire to  and we organise a comprehensive fixtures list against other schools. We enter competitions: we take part in tournaments and aquathlons and are regular participants in the Borough of Croydon Athletics Championships.

Furthermore, we are always looking to extend our range of sporting opportunities e.g. golf and fencing.

Sport is also a key component of our extra-curricular programme and at Old Palace Senior pupils will get the chance to enjoy new sports or develop further favourite ones. Activities such as Rounders, Fencing, Swimming and Tennis are all on offer to pupils.

So whether it is part of the timetable, a fixture or an extra-curricular activity Old Palace Seniors has something sporting to offer to all of our pupils.
