Life in the Pre School

The Pre School is an integral part of the Old Palace community. Set in extensive grounds in South Croydon (just near Lloyd Park), it forms part of Old Palace Prep and together is home to girls aged 3-11. Read our Guide to the Pre School here:

Guide to the Pre School

We are fortunate to enjoy extensive grounds, well-resourced buildings and a dedicated team of experienced EYFS practitioners. Children free flow between the classroom and the outside space all day. We have a large sand pit, a mud kitchen, a trim trail, an investigation area complete with full-size bug hotel, a vegetable patch, water play, construction zone, reading area and even a stage for impromptu performances (here are some of our girls photographed with the dinosaur they made for their spring term topic ‘Dangerous Dinosaurs’).

We follow the highly engaging and motivating ‘Cornerstones’ curriculum, which will ensure excellent progress for the children starting their learning journey with us.

Our community is diverse and welcoming; children learn about each other’s cultures and traditions, from Diwali to Christmas. We organise plenty of trips and visits; these include an autumn nature walk in Coombe Wood, a summer trip to Hever Castle and a visit to the theatre (this Christmas, we went to see Little Red Riding Hood at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley).

Girls enter our Pre School once they’ve turned 3.

The School day starts at 8.30am and finishes at 3.15pm. High quality, wrap around care is available from 7.30am – 6.00pm each day. Our Holiday Club, which operates during every holiday with the exception of the Christmas break, is very popular with our families and is run by Old Palace staff who all know the children.
