Welcome to the Transition Room

Welcome to the 3-4 year old class at Old Palace Nursery. The Transition Room was introduced in February 2010. The aim of this class is to provide a slightly more challenging learning environment for 3 year-olds who are not yet old enough to enter Pre-School.
Facilities
• The classroom is divided into areas so the children can choose where to go during free play: creative activities, roleplay, sand and water play, numeracy activities, construction and small world play and an independent mark-making area.
• The class has access to ICT.
• Direct access to a fenced outdoor play area and a shared garden with climbing equipment.
• Large gym with soft play equipment and a dining hall.
Mealtimes
We all eat as a family in the dining hall.
Tracking your child’s progress
Every child in the nursery has their own Early Years Foundation Stage Profile. This folder contains observations and photographs made of your child, their personalised learning plans, and examples of their work. This folder is maintained by your child’s key worker and is available for you to look at in the classroom at any time.
Communication between home and school
There is always staff available to talk to you at the beginning and end of the day. Anyone who works in Transition will be happy to talk to you about your child’s progress whether or not they are their key worker.
