Year 12 and 13

Students choose to study between 3 and 5 subjects with the majority choosing 4 and the most able 5. The choice of these subjects remains free and the school aims to build the timetable around these choices.

Should a particular choice be impossible to timetable, parents and students are kept informed of the options available. The ‘Learning for Life’ programme enhances and supports the academic curriculum and provides access to careers education and support. The students also study an enrichment course which includes a variety of compulsory and optional modules. These include the Extension Project Qualification, a Medical Preparation programme, a Law Preparation programme, Current Affairs, Financial Awareness, Science & Ethics, Food & Nutrition and Community Service.

In addition all students attend PE: Healthy, Active Lifestyles and can opt to study Arts Award Dance at Gold Level. After the external examinations in the summer, all Year 12 students begin the A2 modules and follow an enrichment course which explores the application process for colleges and universities and all aspects of undergraduate life. In Year 13 an optional swimming session is offered to students.
