On the 16th May, the Year 9 cricket team played their first match of the season against Sydenham High School, at the Old Whits ground.
The match started on a positive note with Old Palace winning the toss and choosing to field first. Due to our sharp fielding and precise bowling, we managed to restrict the opposition form scoring freely. They made 222 runs with 3 wickets taken and several dot balls bowled.
After a very successful first session, it was now our turn to bat. We had a very strong batting line up and quite a few fours, bringing our final total to 248 runs. There were some outstanding performances by Sahana in the fielding department and Iqra in bat (both of whom were awarded Player of the Match), alongside some other excellent performances by other members of the team.
We won our first match of the season by 20 runs. Well done to everyone that played.
